We wanted to check our the prices at Senoko Fishery Port so we woke up at 3.30am to explore last Saturday. By the time we reached at about 4.30am, it actually looked quite empty. Its my first time there so I’m not sure if it always looks like this. The live crabs from a particular stall were also sold out. Maybe I’ll try going at 2ish or 3am to catch more action and have more choices next time!
I wanted to buy some prawns and asked if I could get 500g, the stall owner said something like no one buys 500g. And so, I bought 1kg. ($13 per kg for the size that I bought) At another stall, I wanted to get flower crabs and asked if I could get 1kg, but he said he was only left with one basket and asked if I can take the whole thing. He weighed it and it was 2.5kg. 2.5kg of Sri Lankan crabs are fine, but 2.5kg of flower crabs :l But.. I bought 2.5kg in the end. ($5 per kg, but they were smaller than the ones in normal wet markets)
We bought some clams, crabs, prawns, and fish. My grandma told me that for some stalls the prices are half price of the neighbourhood wet markets, and some other stalls are priced the same.
Moral of the story: Bring your grandma there so you won’t get cheated. Haha.
Apparently there’s another fishery port – Jurong Fishery Port, but it caters more to bulk purchasers.
